Charged with Petit Larceny?

my wife and i was charged with Petit Larceny today and we have to go to court and i was trying to find some info and can't find any, i am just wanting to know what will happen when we go to court it is the first time we have ever been charged with this my wife has a clean record and has never gotten in trouble i myself have a hit and run and a dui on my record so i am just wondering what will happen to us when we go to court i am the one that was actually shoplifting and she just admitting that she was aware that i was doing it and they charged her to this took place in the state of virginia so any answers would help the amount of the product was 7.99 before tax like i said before any answeres would help out alot thank you
