Is there something that you can seal plywood with that will allow me to paint or smooth the surface?

I am trying to take a 8 x 4 sheet of plywood and make it appear smooth, I would like to paint it, but I don't want it to look like plywood (I want to eliminate that texture) Due to my space and time constraints I don't want to do a lot of sanding if at all possible.
