Where to stay in Sydney?

I am going to Sydney next week just for 2 nights 3 days, and will be needing to visit people in the areas of Rydalmere, Chippendale, Rosebery, Balmain, Bondi and Carlton. Could anyone suggest a cheap but clean place to stay where I could conviniently reach those places and the airport? Backpacker or B&B would also be fine as long as they are clean and tidy. Thanks.
